TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: 251 Miles

Following an early morning Euro tunnel crossing you begin your day by quickly passing the industrial areas of France. Clear of the motorway system you begin to enjoy some fabulous rural roads as you first enter the Avesnois regional park before crossing the border into Belgium.

Your route winds through the Ardennes national park as you first follow the Meuse and then Semois rivers to your first overnight stay in the town of Bastogne. It was here in the harsh Christmas of 1944 that the men of Easy Company (Band of Brothers) held the line against the overwhelming German forces.

Day 2: 140 Miles

Today you can decide to relax and visit the many museums in and around Bastogne or take the supplied ride-out which crosses the border into Luxembourg and the pleasant rolling countryside of the high Ardennes plateau.

Day 3: 240 Miles

Using the quiet back roads which criss-cross the Ardennes region you soon enter the Lorraine region of France. En-route you can visit the Ossuaire De Douaumont monument which was built in remembrance of the 130,000 unknown soldiers who died on the battlefield during the Battle of Verdun in World War 1 and whose remains lay at rest below this building. As you continue along the well planned route the terrain becomes more mountainous and forested as you take the Route D Epinal into the Vosges Mountains.

Day 4: 107 – 150 Miles

For some reason the Vosges Mountains do not seem to get the attention they deserve but you will find they are amongst the best biking roads in France and today’s supplied ride out takes you along the spectacular Route des Cretes which follows the main ridge of the Vosges and includes the highest peak of the range, the Grand Ballon. As you climb to the top of the Grand Ballon we recommend that you take a break at the La Vue des Alpes café which as its name suggests, and weather permitting affords excellent views as far away as the Austrian Alps. A longer and shorter version of the ride-out is supplied for today’s route

Day 5: 175 Miles

Continuing your journey the route takes you into the Black Forest via the Feldberg which at 1493 metres is one of the highest Mountains in Germany.

Day 6: 140 Miles

Any visit to the Black Forest would not be complete without riding the famous B500, a road which surely must have been designed by a biker. This area has something for everyone with fast flowing sweepers, interesting hairpins and fantastic landscapes. Today’s ride-out will allow you to experience them all. You also make a quick stop at Schonach, home to the world’s largest working cuckoo clock.

Day 7: 195 Miles

Leaving the Black Forest region behind you begin to notice a dramatic change in scenery as the vine covered slopes of the Mosel region begin to dominate the landscape.

Day 8: 120 Miles

Your final supplied ride-out includes the town of Cochem, the timbered village of Bernkastel-Kues and of course one of its most famous attractions, the Nürburgring. Although the tour does not actually include a ride around the ring we can supply information for you to do so if required. Alternatively if you decide to take a day off the bike and relax there is still plenty to occupy your time such as taking one of the many river cruises along the beautiful Mosel river.

Day 9: 290 Miles

For your final day you head towards the Eiffel region of Germany and the Des Hautes Fagnes National Park before joining the motorway system for your final push to the Euro tunnel in Calais. Euro Tunnel times are flexible and can be changed to suit individual requirements.

This tour has no particularly high mileage days and therefore would be suitable for anyone. The riding as always can be challenging but if you are an experienced rider or it is your first time on the continent this tour could be just what you are looking for.
