Day 1: Tuesday 3rd July

- P&O Hull-Rotterdam

- Stena Line Harwich - Hook of Holland

The tour starts at either the Hull or Harwich ferry terminals as you board the overnight ferry to your chosen destination. Which ever crossing you choose the ferries are state of the art and are equipped with all the conveniences you would expect on board.

Day 2: Wednesday 4th July - 212 Miles

An early morning arrival in Rotterdam or the Hook of Holland allows us to fully appreciate the route today as we quickly cross the industrial regions of Holland and Germany. En-route we cross the Bridge at Arnheim which was the setting for Operation Market Garden and the basis for the 1977 film ‘A Bridge too Far’. Located close to the small German town of Soest our superior four star hotel is a restored half-timbered 19th century manor house which features an indoor swimming pool and sauna.

Day 3: Thursday 5th July - 270 Miles

Our first destination today is the Möhnesee dam which was one of the main targets of the famous ‘bouncing bomb’ used to such devastating effect in the Dambusters raids of the Second World War. The journey continues as we enter the Rothaargebirge national park. It is not hard to see why this area is a magnet for bikers from all over Europe as the traffic free roads weave through the forest. Today is a mixture of fabulous rural roads and Autoroute which unfortunately is required to avoid the city of Frankfurt. Free of the motorway system we follow the winding River Tauber and enter Bavaria. Known for its medieval centre and located on Germany’s Romantic road the beautiful town of Rothenberg ob der Tauber is our destination for the evening. Seemingly untouched by the passage of time and encircled by the undamaged 14th century wall this town is just waiting to be explored.

Day Four: Friday 6th July - 290 Miles

Today we continue South through the Bavarian countryside and ride a section of Germany’s ‘Romantische Strasse’ which winds its way through the myriad of small villages which are so typical of this region. As you pass the city of Munich the towering Austrian Alps slowly become visible in the distance.  We are on our way to Zell am See which is located in one of the most beautiful parks in the world - the Hohe Tauern National Park. Our hotel in Zell am See is equipped with several bars, sun terrace, swimming pool and wellness area

Day 5: Saturday 7th July - 165 Miles

Today we cross into Slovenia via the famous Grossglockner pass which at 2,500 metres is the highest surfaced mountain road in Austria with the highest peaks soaring to over 3,798 metres. Weather permitting we take a short diversion to ascend the Edelweiss Peak or ‘bikers point’ which rises above the surrounding roads and affords unparalleled views of the surrounding mountains. Continuing onward we arrive at our lake side hotel on the banks of Lake Bohinj.

Day 6: Sunday 8th July - 130 Miles

Our superb ride-out today takes us on a circular route around the Julian Alps and to the challenging pass at Kranjska Gora with its 24 cobbled hairpin bends.

If you prefer to relax you will find lots of activities around the hotel such as a walk to the Mostnica Gorge or the Devils Bridge. Other suggestions would be a journey on the cable car to the top of Mount Vogel for some incredible views of the lake and the Julian Alps. Alternatively, visit Lake Bled or ride a little further to the Caves at Postojna or the remarkable castle at Predjama.

Day 7: Monday 9th July - 200 Miles

Today is rural Mountain roads all the way as we soon enter Italy and set a course for the magnificent Dolomites. The Dolomite mountains which are characterised by their flat-crested vertically monolithic appearance is without doubt one of the great biking regions of the Alpine range. The outstanding mountain passes are interconnected with superb roads which run in every direction. Our hotel for the next three nights is one of the most popular biker hotels in the area and has now become our main base when visiting the Dolomites. Here you will enjoy Italian style cooking in a fabulous family owned hotel with indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna.

Day 8: Tuesday 10th July - 87 Miles

Our organised ride-out today will include some of the main passes in the area including the brilliant Passo di Giau, Passo San Pellegrino, Passo di Falzarego and more. The Dolomites are truly amazing and amongst the best places in Europe to ride a motorcycle.

Day 9: Wednesday 11th July

Today is an official rest day where you are able to choose your own itinerary.

Day 10: Thursday 12th July - 256 Miles

Today we leave the mountains behind but not before riding the excellent Passa di Sella. For speed and convenience we take the Brenner Pass toll road before continuing past beautiful mountain lakes and the along the Achen Pass into Germany.  The riding becomes less challenging as we now enter the Linderhof national park and take the Ochsensitz Pass which follows the River Isar along the valley floor.

Day 11: Friday 13th July - 210 Miles

The great roads are far from over as we continue through the Pfalzer and Saar Hunsruck National Parks. These parks are probably one of Germany’s best kept secrets as the almost traffic free roads twist and turn through the forest and it is little wonder that this area is such a favourite with local bikers. A warm welcome awaits us as we arrive at our final hotel in the Mosel region of Germany. The hotel is surrounded by scenic forests and again includes a spa, sauna, steam room and an indoor pool. A perfect setting for our last night together

Day 12: Saturday 14th July - 280 Miles

Today we head towards the Eiffel region of Germany and the Des Hautes Fagnes National Park before joining the motorway system and our final push back to the Euro tunnel at Calais. A Zeebrugge to Hull crossing can be arranged for the return if required.

GERMANY - SLOVENIAN ALPS - DOLOMITE MOUNTAINSTuesday 3rd July - Saturday 14th July 2018Tour 418

This tour starts as we take the overnight ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. With a final check-in time of 7.00 pm this should enable even the furthest traveller to reach the boat within the day. For convenience those living in the South of England can choose the alternative Harwich to Hook of Holland sailing (departs 11.00 pm) and meet the rest of the group the following day. A Zeebrugge to Hull crossing can be arranged for the return if required.

Your guides, Tom & Susan will already be in Holland the night before the tour so will be meeting the groups at the first stop which is approximately 35 miles from Rotterdam or Hook of Holland ferry ports.

This tour does contain some reasonably high mileage days and some challenging roads in the Mountains. Therefore this tour would be suitable for riders who are used to covering long distances and understand and accept the above. Although some of the days are quite long we stop at two of the destinations for more than one night so there is ample opportunity to rest and relax along the way if required.

I had a great time and thought your choice of hotels were very good quality and the food excellent. I won't forget this trip and hope to return to your tour another year. Thanks for your hard work and meticulous planning it was a great holiday.

I would just like to thank you both again for the exemplary way that you operate your tours.  We enjoyed ourselves very much and in no small way thanks to the company and good humour.  Having Susan at the hotel desks with room keys in hand as we arrive was a nice touch - I have been used to a mad rush at the desk and every man for himself as with a certain other tour company.
