Your tour guides, Tom & Susan, will be taking the Hull to Zeebrugge crossing the night before the tour (21st July) and meeting the group at the hotel on the first night. If you would prefer to take this crossing rather than the Euro tunnel then please contact us for availability and pricing.

No motorcyclist likes travelling long distances on the motorway but in order to cover the distance to Corsica unfortunately there is no alternative but to use the motorway system for some of the journey. We have been using this route for some time for our longer tours and everyone agree that it is not as difficult as it would first appear. The Autoroute system on the continent is far quieter and more relaxed than in the UK and therefore the miles pass by quicker than you can imagine.

Travelling as a larger group for long distances on the motorway can be tiring and frustrating. Therefore for the first day we request that everyone either travels alone or within smaller groups. By travelling in this way everyone should be able to pass more quickly through the various toll booths, fill with fuel only when needed and take breaks at their own convenience.

This tour does contain some reasonable high mileage days on the Autoroute system and some challenging roads in the Mountains. Therefore this tour would be suitable for riders who are used to covering long distances and understands and accepts the above. Although some of the days are quite long, at three of the hotels we do have two night stays so there is ample opportunity to rest and relax along the way if required.

Day 1: Sunday 26th August - 395 Miles

The tour starts as you board the early morning euro tunnel crossing and join the French motorway system. With regular stops along the way we quickly pass Reims, Troyes and Dijon before reaching the Burgundy region of France and our first hotel of the tour. Located just a few minutes from the motorway our contemporary 19th century hotel is the perfect place to unwind after our first day. If required we can book the Euro tunnel a day earlier enabling you to extend your holiday and also half the first day’s mileage.

Day 2: Monday 27th August - 310 Miles

Although we must cover a few more miles on the motorway we will soon be on the more bike friendly rural roads. The day ends with us riding a section of the Route Napoleon which has been voted by many as one of the best motorcycling roads in the world. For the next two nights we stay at a three star hotel equipped with outdoor swimming pool and serving fantastic traditional food.

Day 3: Tuesday 28th August - 170 Miles

Today you can choose to relax and discover the surrounding area, take to the rapids for an adventurous rafting session or join our organised ride-out into the French Alps. Alternatively you may take the challenge of climbing the many steps which lead to the Notre Dame du Roc which towers 200 metres over the Marcel Sauvaire square and offers excellent views of the surrounding countryside.

Day 4: Wednesday 29th August - 215 Miles

We now head for the overnight ferry to Corsica via the Verdon Gorge. The Gorge is a spectacular canyon with walls that rise 12,000 feet from the Verdon River below. Our journey continues as we take the Mediterranean coast road to the Italian port town of Savona.

Day 5: Thursday 30th August - 95 Miles

Leaving the port of Bastia behind we head north on the open sweeping roads of the eastern side of the Cap Corse peninsula. A completely different riding experience awaits as we cross to the western side of the peninsula. The gentle slopes of the eastern side are now replaced with towering cliffs, switchback curves and breathtaking views over the Mediterranean Sea. Our hotel for the next two nights is a converted 16th-century monastery located only a short walk from the town centre, beach and marina.

Day 6: Friday 31st August

Today is an official rest day were you are free to make your own itinerary.

Day 7: Saturday 1st September - 150 Miles

Today we are back on the bikes as we explore Corsica's central mountain range. We first ride through the Gorges de Spelunca followed quickly by the Scala di St. Regina whose granite walls are a formidable sight as they plunge to the river far below. This area is dominated by Monte Cinto which at 2706 metres is the highest mountain on the island and one of the most prominent peaks in Europe. We continue on deserted mountain roads and cross the Col de la Serra towards Col de Sorba which are as challenging as they are picturesque. Eventually we head west and descend from the mountains towards the coast and the birth place of Napoleon Bonaparte, Ajaccio. Located a few miles south of Ajaccio and just 100 metres from the beautiful Agosta Beach our modern four star hotel offers breathtaking sea views.

Day 8: Sunday 2nd September - 75 Miles

Today you are free to choose your own itinerary which could be relaxing by the beach or joining us as we again ride the fantastic roads in the area on our organised ride-out.

Day 9: Monday 3rd September - 185 Miles

Suitably rested we experience superb views as we cross Corsica via the Col de Verde Mountain pass. Leaving the mountains behind we now take the much easier coast rode back to Bastia for the overnight ferry back to France.

Day 10: Tuesday 4th September - 210 Miles

Following our arrival in Toulon we immediately head north to Mont Ventoux which has long been one of the challenges of the Tour de France. Our day ends riding through the Ardeche Gorge whose impressive limestone cliffs wind back and forth and present spectacular views of the canyon below.

Day 11: Wednesday 5th September - 190 Miles

Today sees us enter the Cevennes National Park towards another of nature's wonders, the Gorges Du Tarn. The gorge itself rises over 1,600 feet from the valley floor and is more than 3000 feet wide. To complete the day we continue under and over the famous Millau Bridge. This British designed structure attracts thousands of tourists a year and quite rightfully so. The central pillar is higher than the Eiffel Tower and it is possibly one of the most breathtaking bridges ever built.

Day 12: Thursday 6th September - 290 Miles

We continue to the Auvergne national park which contains no less than four chains of extinct volcanoes which have shaped the landscape and resulted in some excellent biking roads. The town of Orleans in the Loire is our final destination and our hotel is situated directly on the banks of the River. The old town is only a short walk away so our last night together is spent in one of the many restaurants which line the narrow streets. There are also plenty of bars in the area and if you want to take in a few sights there is the fabulous Sainte Croix cathedral, comparable only to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Day 13: Friday 7th September - 265 Miles

Following an early breakfast we take mainly rural roads through France before eventually joining the motorway system to the Euro Tunnel in Calais or the ferry port of Zeebrugge.

Just wanted to say thank you very much for a brilliant trip. I am well aware of the amount of hours of planning and organisation that each trip must take you to do. Thank you for your diligence and hard work. The roads were amazing.

We would just like to say thank you both for a great couple of weeks. Karen and me thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Also a great bunch of people. Thank you once again, all the best.
